Nzioka Siwadie Waita

BIO

Nzioka is the founding partner of Momentum Africa LLP, a public policy and external affairs think tank based in Nairobi, Kenya. At 47 years of age, he is a former senior public servant and an experienced C-suite corporate executive. He is the immediate past Chief Of Staff in the Executive Office of the President, Government of the Republic of Kenya under the Uhuru Kenyatta Administration. As the founding Head of the President’s Delivery Unit, Nzioka was a key driver of the Government’s Big Four Agenda and was critical in coordinating the successful implementation of key National Government programs and projects during the Kenyatta administration.

By way of profession, Nzioka is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Certified Public Secretary of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). He is a graduate of Law (LLB) from the University of Sheffield and holds a Master’s Degree in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary, University of London.

Nzioka has held several senior leadership roles in the private sector with the most recent being the Director of Corporate Affairs at Safaricom a position held for 4 years prior to joining the National Government of Kenya. Nzioka has also held a number of non-executive director roles on the Boards of Alpha Africa Asset Managers, a subsidiary of Family Bank Limited and The East African Marine Cable System, the most successful international sub-sea cable system ever developed in Kenya. More recently, Nzioka has taken up strategic advisory roles in the Fin-Tech sector, where he sits as a Trustee in Loop Digital Financial Services Payment Company ( a subsidiary of the NCBA Bank) and as an advisory director on Pesa Kit Holdings a fintech company with a footprint in East & West Africa.

In both his private and public engagements, Nzioka is very passionate about community service. Aside from being a former founding Trustee of the Safaricom Foundation, he has sat on the Board of two other non-profit organisations, namely the African Braille Centre www.africanbraille.org which provides specialised Braille reading material for the visually impaired and Alive and Kicking Kenya www.aliveandkicking.org.uk a social charitable trust registered in the UK and having a local office in Kenya.

Nzioka is a conservationist at heart and is currently serving as an Honorary Warden of Kenya’s Wildlife Service, he is a champion for empowering communities to understand how their carbon credit potential can create sustainable livelihoods for them whilst protecting Kenya’s fragile biodiversity.
